Live Webinar: What is the Role of Medicinal Mushrooms in the Integrative Oncology Setting? Questions and Challenges

Following an overview of the biology and evidence of medicinal mushrooms that was presented by Donald Abrams in July, this session will examine the practical questions and ongoing controversies that clinicians face when discussing these products with patients. Although medicinal mushrooms are widely used by people living with cancer, important uncertainties remain regarding product quality, extract versus whole mushroom preparations, dosing, safety, drug interactions, clinical research and appropriate patient selection. Special attention will be given to integrating medicinal mushrooms alongside chemotherapy, immunotherapy, while recognizing situations in which caution is warranted. The session will conclude with a practical framework to help integrative oncology clinicians critically evaluate mushroom products, counsel patients, and make balanced, evidence-informed recommendations in everyday clinical practice.
