How to support SIO

Individuals and Entities

Your support of the Society for Integrative Oncology helps advance our mission by developing public and professional resources. Charitable contributions to SIO are tax deductible, as allowed by law. The following are ways to support SIO in making a difference in integrative oncology.

In conjunction with membership applications or renewals

Members have the opportunity to make a voluntary contribution when applying for or renewing their memberships. The printable form or on-line form includes a place to indicate a donation for the general purposes of SIO.

In memory of a colleague or loved one

SIO offers the opportunity for you to make a donation in honor of a colleague or loved one. This is a fine way to recognize the individual on a special occasion, such as a work anniversary, promotion, new work setting, or birthday. Acknowledgments will be sent to the honoree. The amount of your gift will not be specified.

Corporate and institutional matching gifts

SIO welcomes corporate and institutional matching gifts. By taking advantage of this opportunity, you can leverage the amount of your donation. For individuals in such corporate and institutional settings, please contact your Human Resources Department to obtain the guidelines for matching gifts. Please include that form along with your donation to SIO. We will be in contact with the corporation or institution to inform the entity of your donation and we can assist in seeking the matching gift.

Through a bequest

You may name SIO in your will, specifying a dollar amount, estate percentage, or, the remainder of your estate, or the remainder of a trust to SIO. Please note whether the bequest is for general purposes. Such a bequest may reduce the size of a taxable estate.

Why Give to SIO?

Dear SIO Members and Friends,

We invite you to help us continue our work to fulfill our mission, to advance evidence-based, comprehensive integrative healthcare to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

We are excited to kick off our 2024 donation drive and we need your help to reach our goal of $100,000.

Below are some of the things that we did with the money we raised in 2023 that we are most proud of.

  • Education:

    • Developed Educational Training Modules for the Anxiety/Depression SIO-ASCO Guideline that are now available on the website. CMEs are offered through the University of Michigan.

    • These modules were presented at the ASCO 2024 conference in June through an educational workshop.

  • Guidelines:

    • The ASCO Cannabis and Cannabinoids Guideline was published. SIO past presidents were among expert panelists. A 2024 pre-conference workshop will explore this guideline and its implications for clinicians, researchers and people with cancer.

    • The ASCO-SIO Guideline on Fatigue has been published. SIO past presidents were among expert panelists.

  • Webinars:

    • SIO hosted the first of two webinars on Ayurveda with international speakers.

    • Coming up: The webinar is August 29th, and a “Homeopathy in Cancer Care” August 29th and 2nd Ayurveda  scheduled for September 12th. The June 24 webinar on how to use EfficaSafe is now on YouTube

  • Membership & Benefits:

    • SIO has surpassed its 2024 goal of 600 members and currently has 700

    • SIO now offers free access to EfficaSafe, a comprehensive drug-herb-supplement database.

  • Global Reach: SIO leaders presented at the June 2024 MASCC Conference (France)

  • 21st SIO International Conference:

    • 450+ international and in-person attended

  • 22nd SIO International Conference (Save the date! Oct. 27-29, 2025 in Boston, MA – stay tuned for more information.)

Thank you in advance for all you can give and your time!

I wish you the best,
