Dr. Christian Boukaram: Stress and the Patient-Oncologist Relationship Webinar

“Stress, Cancer, and the Patient-Oncologist Relationship” by Christian Boukaram, MD
presented on January 21, 2014 at 4 pm ET

When facing cancer, some patients think that stress caused their disease. Dr. Boukaram will emphasize tools such as mindfulness and hypnosis that oncologists can use to help patients cope with the emotional and existential turbulence effects cancer can have. He will be also be explaining that, even though stress is not the origin of cancer, it is useful to encourage patients to use healing tools and evaluate all aspects of their psychosocial lives in order to help the person with the disease, as well as his or her family. Dr. Boukaram will answer questions like “How does the mind interfere with cancer and how can we change our outlook on the disease in order to increase feelings of empowerment? In a clinic with high levels of burnout, how can an oncologist use the mind in order to maximize alliance with his patients, and guide them towards adapted complementary therapies?”
