SIO 2026 Conference: Call for Pre-Conference Workshop Submissions NOW OPEN!

Deadline to submit is February 16, 2026

We are excited to announce the opening for Scientific Abstract submissions for the 2026 SIO International Conference, hosted by the Henry Ford Health Center from September 29 to October 1, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan. The conference theme is “Cultivating Community and Belonging in Integrative Oncology”.

Submissions are welcome from all members of the integrative oncology community including trainees and persons with a cancer diagnosis.

Pre-conference workshops are offered for a fee (separate from conference registration) and will take place on the morning of September 29. The length of the workshop will be either 1 hour 45 minutes or 4 hours. You will have the option to choose your preference at the time of submission, with the final decision being made by the scientific review committee. Preference will be given to workshops with a strong impact on clinical practice, so please ensure your proposal clearly outlines actionable strategies that attendees will leave with.

Please note that we will still be accepting in conference workshop proposals with the call for abstracts, coming in March. These workshops will be 1 hour in length.

Before you submit, please consider the following evaluation criteria:

  • Relevance to conference theme – How well does the workshop align with our SIO 2026 theme?
  • Scientific support and content – How much of the workshop content is supported by scientific research?
  • Impact on Clinical Practice – Does the workshop provide actionable strategies that attendees can apply in their clinical practice?
  • Clarity and Interactivity – Does the workshop provide clear goals, content and level of experiential involvement or interactive discussion with attendees (the more interactive, the better)?
  • Diversity and Inclusion – Does the workshop include a diversity of speakers from different cancer centers, countries qualifications, and perspectives?
  • Diversity of disciplines/modalities – Does the workshop have potential to appeal to a broad range of attendees?

To be clear, diversity and inclusion are equally important in workshop submissions and will be integrated into the evaluation criteria when appropriate. Workshops that feature speakers from diverse backgrounds, represent less commonly used integrative oncology approaches or address new insights in less intervened cancer subtype or minoritized community will be highly appreciated. Read our conference Inclusivity Guideline here.
