Three keynote speakers will be among the highlights of SIO's 15th international conference, October 27-29, 2018 at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormack Ranch, Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference theme will be "Integrative Oncology: From Research to Practical Applications."
Reflecting this theme, the keynote speakers will discuss the critical role of integrative oncology, share approaches in mind-body and survivorship, and present a global perspective on the translation of research to clinical practice.
Andrew Weil, MD, will discuss the importance of integrative oncology. Devoting a lifetime to practicing natural and preventive medicine, Dr. Weil is Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, where he also holds the Lovell-Jones Endowed Chair in Integrative Rheumatology and is Clinical Professor of Medicine and Professor of Public Health.
Patricia Ganz, MD, will focus on survivorship and mind-body. A pioneer in the assessment of quality of life in cancer patients, much of her clinical work and research has involved breast cancer and its prevention. She is Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Fielding School of Public Health; Professor of Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; and Director of the Center for Cancer Prevention & Control Research at the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Eran Ben-Arye, MD, will describe integrative oncology in the Middle East and how research on complementary and integrative therapies is being translated to practice within Israeli cancer care settings. He is Co-Founder and Director of the Unit of Complementary and Traditional Medicine at the Department of Family Medicine, Haifa; Director of the Integrative Oncology Program within the Haifa and Western Galilee Oncology Service, Lin Medical Center, Clalit Health Services; and Chairperson of the Israel Society for Complementary Medicine of the Israel Medical Association.
