Global Perspectives on Online Integrative Oncology Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) hosted the webinar, “Global Perspectives on Online Integrative Oncology Care During the COVID-19 Pandemic,” Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a significant challenge to oncology healthcare practitioners (HCP), limiting their ability to provide in-person supportive cancer care. SIO has established an Online Task Force to address this challenge.

Through a global survey of over 50 HCPs from almost 20 countries, a practice guideline to delivering online, evidence-based integrative oncology care has been developed. During this webinar, the draft guideline will be presented, clinical exemplars shared, and discussion held regarding attendees’ experiences in providing online integrative oncology.

Eran Ben-Arye, MD, is Director, Integrative Oncology Program, Haifa and Western Galilee Oncology Service, Lin, Carmel & Zebulun Medical Centers, Clalit Health Services, Associate Professor, Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, and Co-chair of the SIO Online Task Force.

Lynda G. Balneaves, RN, PhD, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Deputy Director, Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids (CCIC), and Past-President, Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO).
