"Mini Trek" in the Enchanting Upper Peninsula of Michigan
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan (e.g, U.P.) is a hidden wonderland of unspoiled natural beauty, a diverse array of wildlife, and over a thousand years of Native American history.

Shared experiences empowered by nature and mindful meditation. Recalibrate, rejuvenate and reconnect to life. Get ready to explore the beauty of the wilderness, take a closer look at the person you’ve become since your cancer diagnosis, and meet other young adult cancer survivors who know what it’s like to hear the words, “You have cancer”. At True North Treks (TNT) we bring young adult cancer survivors together in outdoor settings away from medical clinics and doctors’ offices. The natural world can be a place of stillness and healing, and offers a chance to gain perspective by getting away from the everyday stresses of life back home. Following the guiding metaphor of the North Star, TNT gives young adult cancer survivors tools to find their own “true north” through connecting with the outdoor world, connecting with other young adults with cancer, and connecting with oneself through practicing mindfulness meditation & yoga. We believe this is good medicine that contributes to a rich and fulfilling life and new normal once treatment ends.

This October, TNT is offering a unique and exciting long-weekend “mini-trek” in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for those who would like a taste of what TNT offers but aren’t able to go on a week-long experience. Participate with other young adult cancer survivors to connect with nature, one another, and help replenish your spirits through training and practice in mindfulness meditation and yoga. This will be a “hybrid” trek, as we will sleep indoors the first and last night at a beautiful lake house retreat, and tent camp the second night alongside a quiet and remote inland lake reflecting the deep orange, red and yellow colors of the UP fall leaf change. Be prepared for day hikes in remote and pristine UP wilderness settings, amazing food, and downtime for rest, relaxation, and connection. We look forward to sharing this experience with you!
