The 17th International Conference of the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) will be held October 16-18, 2020 in Baltimore, MD and is co-hosted by Johns Hopkins University. The theme is "The Science of Living Well with Cancer." The SIO Conference is the gathering place for clinicians, researchers, patients, advocates and trainees in integrative cancer care from all over the world. The Conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to hear about advances in the field, present their research findings, build collaborations, and learn from each other. The program includes keynotes, plenary sessions, moderated panels, workshops, and oral and poster presentations of research findings. There will be informal time for gathering, including a poster reception and a conference dinner. Visit the conference website for more information.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations that represent the broad spectrum of integrative cancer research (basic, clinical, health care utilization, cost effectiveness, program and best practice guideline development) and clinical care are welcome. In keeping with the conference theme, individuals submitting abstracts are encouraged to consider the person-centered care factors of their work and its relevance to integrative cancer care.

Evaluation Criteria: Members of the Abstract Review Committee will evaluate the quality of the submitted abstracts on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Novelty of the research
  • Strength of the methods
  • Significance of the findings
  • Clarity of language
  • Relevance to the conference theme

All abstracts should be written in a clear, succinct manner. If the abstract is poorly written, such that the Abstract Review Committee cannot determine its novelty and importance, the abstract will not be accepted for presentation at the Conference.

The abstract should comply with the ethics of scholarly activities in general and should be free of commercial bias. The authors must disclose conflicts of interest as required by continuing education accreditation bodies.

Authors must indicate whether the abstract material has been presented at other scientific meetings. Abstracts previously presented at another scientific meeting are eligible to be selected for poster or oral presentation, but are not eligible for the “Best of SIO” designation. If the research has been accepted for publication or has been recently published, it is the author’s responsibility to comply with the journal’s copyright rules.

Abstract Submission Number: An Abstract Submission Number will be assigned to each abstract. This number will be displayed at the top of the submitter screen and will be listed on all e-mail correspondence regarding the abstract. Please refer to the Abstract Submission Number in any subsequent abstract communications.
