Professional Training in Mind-Body Medicine for Cancer Caregivers
About the Training
The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM) in partnership with Ann’s Place will host the first Professional Training Program in Mind-Body Medicine for Cancer Caregivers (PTPCC) in honor of Susan H. Bowker. The generous gift from the Susan H. Bowker Irrevocable Living Trust will empower one hundred clinicians to attend this program tuition-free.
This training will provide participants with the science and personal experience that will enable them to teach practical techniques of self-care that directly address the stress that inevitably accompanies a cancer diagnosis. Participants will have the opportunity to experience and practice a variety of mind-body skills including meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and yoga, and self-expression in words, drawings, and movement in CMBM’s pioneering, educational, and meditative mind-body skills groups. After this four-day training, participants will be able to use the skills they learned with their patients and clients, and their families members, as well as to integrate them into their own lives.
