Meet Research Committee Co-Chair Linda Carlson
Linda Carlson, PhD, RPsych, is one of the co-chairs the SIO Research Committee. Dr. Carlson is Director of Research and Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Psychosocial Resources at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Canada. She holds the Enbridge Research Chair in Psychosocial Oncology and is a Professor in Psychosocial Oncology in the Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and an Alberta Innovates-Health Solutions Health Scholar.
Meet Board Member Judith Fouladbakhsh
Judith M. Fouladbakhsh, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, PHCNS-BC, CHTP, Associate Professor of Nursing at Oakland University, joined the SIO Board of Trustees in October of 2014. She is an advanced practice nurse and educator, with extensive experience in integrative oncology, pain management, public health and cancer nursing. She holds advanced practice certifications in Community Health and Holistic Nursing, and is a certified Healing Touch Practitioner, Reflexologist and Reiki Master.
In Memoriam: Jeremy Geffen, MD
We at the SIO are so sad to report the passing of our friend and professional colleague Jeremy Geffen, MD. Long before the term integrative oncology even existed, Jeremy created one of the very first successful working models of a truly integrative cancer center in the US.
Meet Your Board Member – Anita Kinney, PhD, RN
Anita Kinney, PhD, a professor and population scientist recognized for work in cancer prevention and behavioral epidemiology, has joined the SIO Board of Trustees. Dr. Kinney is the Carolyn R. Surface Endowed Chair in Cancer Population Sciences at the University of New Mexico and Associate Director for Cancer Control and Population Sciences, UNM Cancer Center. Dr. Kinney cites the importance of SIO's multi-disciplinary approach and roles in bringing together clinicians, scientists, patient advocates who share interests in integrative health care. "I believe in the tremendous power of integrating complementary therapies into the care of people at risk for cancer, with cancer or who have survived cancer."
